Integrated 3D echo-x ray to optimize image guidance for structural heart intervention.

چکیده
REAL-TIME, 3-DIMENSIONAL TRANSESOPHAGEAL ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY (RT 3D TEE) IS NOW USED ROUTINELY IN CONJUNCTION with x-ray fluoroscopy to guide percutaneous structural heart disease (SHD) interventions. Unlike fluoroscopy, RT 3D TEE provides excellent detail of 3D anatomy and soft tissue structures, and provides “live” intraprocedure guidance. A novel 3D echo-x-ray navigation system that successfully

Image Guidance of Intracardiac Ultrasound with Fusion of Pre-operative Images
This paper presents a method for registering 3D intracardiac echo (ICE) to pre-operative images. A magnetic tracking sensor is integrated on the ICE catheter tip to provide the 3D location and orientation. The user guides the catheter into the patient heart to acquire a series of ultrasound images covering the anatomy of the heart chambers. An automatic intensity-based registration algorithm is...

Complex electrophysiology (EP) procedures, such as catheter-based ablation in the left atrium and pulmonary veins (LAPV) for treatment of atrial fibrillation, require knowledge of heart chamber anatomy. Electroanatomical mapping (EAM) is typically used to define cardiac structures by combining electromagnetic spatial catheter localization with surface models which interpolate the anatomy betwee...
متن کاملA novel Bayesian respiratory motion model to estimate and resolve uncertainty in image-guided cardiac interventions
In image-guided cardiac interventions, respiratory motion causes misalignments between the pre-procedure roadmap of the heart used for guidance and the intra-procedure position of the heart, reducing the accuracy of the guidance information and leading to potentially dangerous consequences. We propose a novel technique for motion-correcting the pre-procedural information that combines a probabi...
متن کاملCerebral Microbleeds in a Small Cohort of Patients with First Ever Lacunar Stroke. A 3Tesla MRI Longitudinal Case Series
Patients had the 3Tesla MRI scan after 4.5 days from the index event. The structural MRI protocol, including standard MR sequences (DWI axial image, 3D T1 MP RAGE, 3D FLAIR, GRE) was applied to identify MR visible abnormalities. Axial diffusion-weighted images were acquired by using a spin-echo echo-planar imaging sequence (repetition time (TR)/echo time (TE), 2800/77 ms; field of view (FOV), 2...
متن کاملGuidance of interventions in structural heart disease; three-dimensional techniques are here to stay
A significant part of current daily practice in interventional cardiology consists of interventions in structural heart disease. This involves a diversity of interventions in both acquired and congenital heart defects. A safe and predictable intervention can be a challenge, particularly in patients with congenital heart disease who often have multiple operations in their medical history. Improv...
